Cuttings

Well, this is the lastest picture of my plant. I took some cutting from it today so I can try and sex the plant. I've never done this before, so I'm learning as well.
It is quite easy to be honest, I just hope it has worked. It's a case of cutting off a branch, I took one from underneath, and using some rooting gel:

So here is the cutting- you have to cut the stem diagonally before planting it again:

This is the rooting gel, just dip them stem in before putting it in the soil.

And here they are. Now it's just a waiting game!

Growing Fast!

Someone posted a comment asking what I do to dry and cure. It's quite easy.

Cut away the branches, and hang them in a cardboard box from string, in a cool dark place for about a week. If you think, after cutting that the buds still need drying, try putting them in a paper bag for a few more day. After that, I put it in some glass jars to cure for about another week. I am not saying this works for everyone, this is just how I do it.

There is about 2 ounces in these jars.

So, my current plants are coming along well.
This was the first one, about 3 days ago:

And this is it about 5 minutes ago:

So you can see how quickly they do actually grow. I have one more, that has just started as well:

It's just a wee seedling just now.

So right now, everyday, I give the soil a good watering in the morning and at night time, and I use spray bottle on the leaves throughout the day. I always leave the water to sit over night, and test the pH in the morning. This makes sure any chemicals or anything can evaporate, and the pH should ideally be around 5.5. I have a wee testing kit that dies the water a certain colour, depending on its pH levels.
They are under the grow light for around 16 hours. It can be hard to control the temperature. I don't use any fans- purely because battery operarted ones burn out with in a couple of days, and plug in ones cost far too much on electricity. Fans can be good for strengthing the stalk in the begining but, so if you can, do use one. I just keep my windows open, and the temperature usually holds around 25C, it does need heat to grow, but too hot and it can burn. I had a lot of problems with that in the beginning.
I use a feed that lasts for weeks at a time. I have these wee tablets that I put under the soil and feed the plant for around 3 weeks, and I mix a very small amount of liquid feed in they spray bottle with water. You have to be very careful with under/over feeding. This is a balance that I have found works well for me.

Okay, that's all from me today!! xx

Just Quickly.....

I planted another seed today, so I thought I would let you know what a seed looks like when it has Germinated.

I know it's not the best photo, but you can see the seed, and the root growing out of it.

Just a quick post for now, as I have a Beef Casserole in the oven :D But here's my  other plants progress since yesterday.

It's annoying that the grow lights do that to cameras. Any how, it's coming on strong!

So, This Is How It Started.....

I moved up to Glasgow about two years ago, and I had moved from one shitty flat to another, barely making ends meets, and constantly in and out of jobs.
Then, at the beginning of this year, a friend of a friend mentioned he was looking to start a farm growing cannabis, but, as he lived with his parents, he couldn't do it in his own house.
So I thought about it for a while, and decided- Why, the hell, not?

So he bought all the equiptment and set this up in my flat.

Thats the grow light, set up in my kitchen cupboard. In the bottom of the cupboard, is plant pots, a garden tray, a fan (although I never use the fan).

This plant is one week old. They need a ton of light at this stage- and it costs A LOT of electricity. I also have 2 seeds germinating, so I'll be planting them soon.

When you germinate a seed, you wrap it in wet tissue and leave it in a dark place for around four days, until the roots break through. Then they are ready to plant.

There are a lot of things to keep track of just now. Such as the pH of the soil, and of the water you are giving it. Making sure you aren't over/underfeeding it, the temperature, and the amount of light it is getting (about 18 hours a day).

A lot of this is just finding out as you go along. There is only so much you can read up about. Don't get me wrong, I have found a few websites that have been extremely informative. But you learn by doing.

My first harvest was an absolute nightmare. Out of 5 seeds, 2 plants survived. There were constant problems with burning, and just dying. I couldn't determine exactly what killed them off, but I would guess at heat, and perhaps, not enough light. I am no expert but.
From the two plants that survived, I harvested them too early. So I have two and half ounce of useless weed :(

In The Beginning......

I've been reading this book about the history of cannibas. It is hard to believe that it is illegal now, after how sought after Hemp was a few centuries ago. It was a plant that was revereed around the world for its properties, such ashame.
I've never found a hobby so fascinating, with so much history. This may suprise you, but I don't grow cannabis because I am a major pot head who spends much of my life stoned. Infact, I hardly smoke it at all. Watching a seed grow into something so beautiful, its amazing.

I am going to start putting pictures up soon, but for now its just my ramblings!

Here We Go...........

So, my blog.
My Blooooooooooooog.
Hmmmmm.

I started growing cannabis plants in my flat in Glasgow at the beginning of 2011. It's a long, hard process, but it's my hobby. I am also a writer, so I am at home all day with my plants. I suppose it's about time I combined the two.

This is the perfect time to start this I suppose, as I have 3 seedlings right now, so I can track them as I go along. I only grow 2 or 3 at a time, no mass production happening here.

I suppose I shall have to remain anonymous, as this is illegal unfortunately.
So, call me Frankie.
